In budget 2023, additional funds should be provided for salaries in the public sector, in order to compensate for inflation in the past two years plus a 10 percent rise for the current year, the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria say.

The union also demands that the minimum monthly salary be raised to €433.67 from July 1. Another request is related the return of 20% VAT for "all those who were given a vacation during the months of crisis", CITUB President Plamen Dimitrov said. He pointed out that the lower rate did not lead to a reduction in prices and the measures were "a benefit in the pocket of the relevant producers and businesses, for example restaurant services".
