“The new regular government is working towards political stability in Bulgaria that will ensure good investment conditions and will raise the living standards of the people,” said PM academician Nikolay Denkov during a meeting with the ambassadors of the countries of the EU, and of the US.
It was agreed during the meeting that the lack of stability in the past two years is what has stopped European and American businesses from being more active. Together with Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel, the Bulgarian prime minister presented the government’s priorities and its legislative programme.
Bulgaria’s top foreign policy priorities are entry into the Schengen area and the Eurozone, Denkov and Gabriel emphasized. Bulgaria will intensify the efforts to meet the US criteria for joining the visa-free travel zone, and the prime minister will supervise the process personally. Cooperation in security and nuclear energy were also discussed with US ambassador to Bulgaria Kenneth Merten. The US ambassador stated that to intensify bilateral business contacts, the USA will send at least two more commercial attachés.
