Folk costumes from Bulgaria presented at Embroidery Festival in Samovodene near Veliko Tarnovo

Collectors from all over the country present traditional Bulgarian folk costumes at the National Embroidery Festival in the village of Samovodene near Veliko Tarnovo.

This year, the celebration of the traditional Bulgarian art of embroidery takes place under the motto "Bread in Bulgarian folk customs - the common symbolic language with embroidery".

In the square in front of the Samovodene community centre, exhibitions of sewing fragments, ornaments and accessories to traditional clothing, domestic pillows, aprons are presented.

Collectors of folk costumes demonstrate in the gorge the old-style garments that they have searched for and preserved.

"When a person puts on a costume, the soul blossoms. You realize that there is something that is above you and you are a small person and you have to continue the tradition. These are our traditions, this is our past, we must preserve them", commented festival participants.
