Bulgaria’s National Assembly heard the Minister of Defense Todor Tagarev regarding the European Union's initiative to provide 1 million ammunition and shells to Ukraine and the country’s declared readiness to train combat medics and orderlies to help Ukraine.

Minister Tagarev noted that at this stage Bulgaria cannot supply Kyiv with 155 mm shells, as it does not have such weapons, but there is a possibility for the European Defence Agency to contract with Bulgarian companies to produce such ammunition. For the purpose, EUR 500 million will be allocated from the European fund. It has also become clear that Bulgaria will not send armed forces to Ukraine in any form, but will train Ukrainian medics. In the space of one year, a total of 60 Ukrainian military medics and orderlies will receive special training at the Military Medical Simulation Training Centre of the Military Medical Academy.
