MPs from GERB, We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB) and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) called on the Supreme Judicial Council to suspend the election of a new Prosecutor General until the final ruling of the Constitutional Court and the final adoption of the planned amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria, reads a declaration signed by the representatives of the three political forces. “We want a transparent and fair election of a new Prosecutor General”, GERB MP Denitsa Sacheva said. “The amendments to the Constitution should be adopted first. Ivan Geshev was dismissed from the post of Prosecutor General on June 15 by a decision of the Supreme Judicial Council. Later, a procedure for the election of an interim Prosecutor General was launched and Borislav Sarafov was appointed as acting Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria.
