The Yoghurt Fair in Razgrad promotes folk traditions

"Razgrad is once again the capital of yoghurt", announced Deputy Mayor Dobrin Dobrev on the occasion of the opening of the 21st Yoghurt Fair today. The idea of the fair is to promote the folk traditions of the Kapantsi people, a small ethnographic group in this region, especially in the preparation of the unique in its flavour and texture yoghurt.

The three-day programme of the fair includes numerous events - the "Past Master" competition for Best Dairy Producer, the "Queen of Yoghurt" beauty contest among the representatives of the dance groups in the evening concerts, the fun competition "Make tarator, not horror!" (tarator being a Bulgarian cold soup with yoghurt, cucumbers, garlic, dill and walnuts), a children's plein air event and much more.

For the first time, the "Red hot chilli pepper!" courage competition will be held - participants will compete in eating chillies and putting out the fire with... yoghurt.
