Dilyan Deyanov, prosecutor from the specialized prosecutor’s office, which was closed a year ago, has officially been charged in connection with the so-called Eight Dwarves affair.
According to the prosecutor’s office, on 18 February, 2020, he wrongfully returned material evidence - gold coins – to a person who was not legally entitled to them. Deyanov has refused any comment to media. His lawyer Lyudmil Rangelov stated he was sure the court would acquit him.
Charges have also been brought, in absentia, against former investigator Petyo Petrov, aka Petyo the Euro, for whom a European arrest warrant has been issued.
