Minivan with migrants crashes in central Sofia

Photo: Nikolay Hristov, BNR

A minivan transporting 49 illegal residents from Afghanistan, with English license plates, collided with a jeep with Bulgarian registration in the area of Orlov most bridge in Sofia. The driver fled and is being sought.

Most of the migrants are young men, as 10 of them were taken to medical facilities. Due to the limited space in the bus, they suffered from lack of air and 4 were in serious condition.

There is an increased police presence at the scene.
