In the vicinity of Prilep village, near Burgas, a truck hit and killed a 6-year old boy, and a little later the 57-year old truck driver was lynched by the boy’s family, and was killed.
The tragedy played out at around 3.30 PM on 28 August, when the boy suddenly ran out into the road and the driver was unable to stop the vehicle. The investigation has ascertained that three families from Prilep and Gradets village near Kotel were celebrating together not far from the road. Seven men from Gradets have been detained for the killing of the driver. The incident in Prilep raises a number of unresolved problems connected with the role played by law enforcement, but also about road infrastructure and the passage of heavy-duty vehicles through populated areas.
