The Sofia Court of Appeals has released businessman Vasil Bozhkov under house arrest. He will be monitored with an electronic ankle bracelet.

The gambling kingpin, who has been charged with 19 felonies, returned to Bulgaria after a three-year stay in Dubai on August 25 and was detained at the airport.
After his arrest, Bozhkov was questioned at the prosecutor's office. He was due to testify in the investigation into allegations that he was blackmailed for 60 million leva (over 30 million euros) by former Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, former Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov and Borissov's media adviser Sevdalina Arnaudova.

In the meantime, it has become clear that a prosecutor's decree has provided personal security for Bozhkov and his family.
