"Over the last four years, we have gone through many severe crises - from a global pandemic, through huge inflation, refugee waves, to political instability. As a local authority, we stood firm and did not allow the major crises to turn into crises of Sofia", Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova said at the solemn session of the Sofia Municipal Council dedicated to the Day of Sofia celebrated on September 17.

One month before the local elections, she called on the municipal councilors not to build non-existent differences and not to pit one person against another in an attempt to please someone. ‘’Sofia is a community of dignified and free people who are building their lives and the future of our country’’, said Yordanka Fandakova.

Yordanka Fandakova and the Chairman of the Sofia Municipal Council Georgi Georgiev awarded the new honorary citizens of Sofia - writer Georgi Gospodinov, poet Georgi Konstantinov, artist Stanislav Pamukchiev and America for Bulgaria Foundation President Nancy Schiller.
