The exhibition "Trebenishte. 105 years since finding the necropolis. 1918 – 2023" opens today at 18:00. The exhibition is the result of the joint work of archaeologists from the National Archaeological Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Archaeological Museum of the Republic of North Macedonia, the National Museum of Serbia, and the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments and National Museum - Ohrid.

The necropolis near the village of Trebenishte, 14 km away from Ohrid, was accidentally discovered by Bulgarian troops during road construction at the end of World War I in the spring of 1918.
They found warriors buried in the graves with their equipment, gold insignia, silver and bronze artifacts, ornaments, etc. The objects show the necropolis dates back to the second half of the 6th and 5th centuries BC.
The exhibition can be seen in Sofia until March 2024.
