Discussions are underway with retail chains to voluntarily set weekly products at discount prices, Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov said on the occasion of Economy Minister Bogdan Bogdanov's idea for big stores to sell 15 basic foods at lower prices.

He stressed that the government would not impose a price ceiling on basic food products. "Our task is to lower inflation. We would rather try without administrative restrictions, which usually produce short-term results," the prime minister said. He said the economy minister had discussed the idea with representatives of retail chains and they had been receptive.
