Almost 1.5 million people aged 15 to 64 are not active on the labour market, Minister of Labour and Social Policy Ivanka Shalapatova stated. The number of young people who neither study nor work is around 145,000. In Minister Shalapatova’s words, the government is seeking adequate employment for all of them, and is, at the same time, making efforts to facilitate the procedure for importing workers from abroad for the sectors which are short-staffed.

“It is our aim to adequately cater for the needs of the market with quality workers who will work for a decent salary,” Minister Shalapatova said. 136,000 young and older people who are inactive will be integrated into the labour market via innovative approaches and measures under the Human Resources Development programme (2021-2027), Ivanka Shalapatova said further.
