Celebrations of the Day of Bessarabian Bulgarians begin in Sofia
The celebrations on the occasion of the day of Bessarabian Bulgarians, organized by the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad, have started in Sofia. The two-day festival is organized in front of the National Palace of Culture.
“Everywhere in the world there are Bulgarians who care and who work for Bulgaria. That is why we are taking the celebrations out into the square. We are celebrating the Bessarabian Bulgarians, but this is an occasion to start the conversation about Bulgarians abroad in general,” said the head of the Agency Rayna Mandzhukova. “It is a conversation that we all need, that Bulgaria needs,” she said in her address.
The two-day festival will include lots of music, an artistic programme by groups from Ukraine and Moldova, a parade of national costumes, Bessarabian wine and cuisine from the Bulgarian communities in other countries, the organizers say.
