The Bulgarian Ministry of Youth and Sports is conducting 16 lawsuits for 100% of the money distributed in advance for unbuilt gyms in public schools, announced the Minister of Sports Dimitar Iliev.

The money set aside by the state and provided in 2020 after hastily awarded public contracts is in the amount of BGN 22 million for the construction and equipment of 24 gyms.

Only two gyms have been built to date. As a result of the efforts of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, since January 2022, just over 4 million BGN /2 million EUR/ have been recovered.

About a third of schools in Bulgaria do not have gyms at all, according to data from the Ministry of Youth and Sports
