Suspect in criminal activities linked to Hamas arrested in Bulgaria

As a result of a joint operation of the Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office, the State Agency for National Security and the Ministry of Interior, a foreign citizen put on the wanted list by Austria was detained in the country. The foreigner was charged with committing criminal activities linked to the Hamas organization. The detained person is 37 years old.

The arrest took place in Sofia on the basis of a European Arrest Warrant. A procedure for initiating legal proceedings has started, which may lead to the extradition of the suspect.

BTA recalls that on November 23, the German agency DPA reported that in Berlin and other German cities several specialized operations were carried out against banned organizations, as 15 searches were carried out in different apartments in Berlin and other German cities
