We shall find out whether Bulgaria meets the criteria for the introduction of the euro in June, 2024, said Bulgarian National Bank Deputy Governor Andrey Gurov, in an interview with Nova TV.

The convergence report which Bulgaria is expecting of the European Commission and the European Central Bank will be released around mid-2024. The updated plan for the introduction of the euro envisages a large-scale information campaign. “The prices in Leva and euro should start to appear a month after the EC reports are received – around June next year,” said Andrey Gurov. Prices in Leva and in euro will be visible until the end of 2025. Payments in Leva will be possible up to one month after the introduction of the Euro.
