Bill on the State Social Insurance Budget passed in first reading in Parliament

The draft law on the State Social Insurance Budget for 2024 has passed its first reading in Parliament. From 1 July, all pensions granted until the end of 2023 will be updated by 11%, thus the minimum pension will increase from the current €268.01 to €297.48. The maximum amount of one or more pensions per person will remain at €1,742.20.

The maximum insurable income for all insured persons will increase from €1,738 to €1,917 and the minimum insurable income for self-employed persons, farmers and tobacco growers will increase from €398.81 to €477.04 from 1 January.

Employers will only have to pay sick pay for the first two days of illness instead of the current three.

MEPs also approved in first reading the health insurance fund's draft budget for 2024, which amounts to more than €4 billion.
