Minister of Education, Galin Tsokov, has announced initiatives for quality education aimed at the development of competences and skills for life and for better performance of students in the PISA tests. The Minister recalled that the results of 15-year-old Bulgarians in the PISA-2018 international study were relatively low compared to other EU countries.

"We are working for developing a new vision for the educational programs," the minister also said. Measures in secondary school envisage a new approach and increasing students' practical skills at the expense of memorization and repetition.
