The achievements of the INSAIT Institute at Sofia University in the field of artificial intelligence are of interest to the business and scientific community in Japan, it was said at a meeting between Bulgaria's Minister of Education Prof. Galin Tsokov and the new Ambassador of Japan Michigami Hisashi, the ministry announced.

"Many businessmen in Japan already know about INSAIT. They are increasingly interested. I would like us to take advantage of this fact," said the ambassador.

Japan's largest national scientific institute, RIKEN, has also entered into a memorandum of partnership with INSAIT.

There are currently 42 partnership agreements between Japanese and Bulgarian universities. About 50 Japanese students are studying in Bulgarian higher schools - mainly in medicine and economics. Bulgaria has its own lecturer in Bulgarian language and culture at Kobe University.

"We hope, with joint efforts, to expand the lectureships in Bulgarian in other Japanese universities as well," said Tsokov.

Hisashi pointed out that over the years 600 Bulgarian students studied in Japan on government scholarships. In addition, Japanese language is taught in three Bulgarian schools and is studied by nearly 400 students.
