Three Bulgarian national records at the European Short Course Swimming Championships in Romania

Kaloyan Levterov set a new national record in the 200m backstroke at the European Short Course Swimming Championships (25m) held in Otopeni, Romania from 5-10 December. Levterov qualified for the semi-finals by finishing third in heat 3 with a time of 1:53.81. This was 20 hundredths better than his previous personal best, according to the Bulgarian Swimming Federation. 

Diana Petkova set a new national record in the 50m breaststroke to qualify for the semi-finals. Petkova finished 12th, tied with Great Britain's Kara Hanlon, in 30.44 seconds. In the same event, Thea Nikolova (31.08 sec) is the second reserve for the semi-finals. 

Junior European 800m freestyle champion Petar Mitsin failed to qualify for the final in Romania, but set a new national record. He finished in 7:47.77, the eighth result in his series. Mitsin is ranked 15th in the overall standings, according to the national swimming federation.
