At a meeting in Brussels the ministers of agriculture of Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania discussed imports of agricultural products from Ukraine. Bulgaria’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Kiril Vatev said he was ready to support joint actions by the five countries.

"It is important to draw the European Commission's attention to the fact that market distortion is greater in these countries than in all other EU Member States. We fully support the solidarity lanes, but we cannot ignore the distortion of the market and the dumping facing our producers", Minister Vatev commented. He briefed his counterparts on the agreement reached with Kyiv on licensing the import of wheat, corn, sunflower and rapeseed to Bulgaria. Minister Vatev has expressed expectation that the measures would increase the purchase of Bulgarian sunflower, which is among the sensitive commodities.
