Ahead of tomorrow's vote for head of SCC

Sofia loses hundreds of millions without functioning city council, new Mayor warns

If no head of the Sofia City Council (SCC) is elected tomorrow, Sofia will continue to lose hundreds of millions, Mayor Vasil Terziev warned in a Facebook post. New councillors have failed to elect a city council leader for several consecutive meetings.

According to the Mayor, major infrastructure projects in Sofia will suffer, and the capital will lose the opportunity to finance the watercycle project worth over €102 million. Vasil Terziev also points out that many administrative decisions, such as the reallocation of funds from one activity to another in order to meet the capital's due payments, must be approved by the Metropolitan Municipal Council. There are also unfinished projects waiting to be completed. One of them is the repair of the yellow pavement on Tsar Shishman Street.
