National Assembly discusses changes to the Constitution

Photo: BTA

The only point for today's session of the National Assembly is the second vote on the Bill for Amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria. Proponents of the bill are PP-DB, GERB-SDS and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms.

Among the expected changes are limiting the powers of the caretaker governments, limiting the circle of people the president can choose from when appointing a caretaker cabinet, creating an opportunity for citizens with double citizenship  to be elected for MPs and ministers, reducing the mandate of the Prosecutor General from 7 to 5 years.
