Bulgarian President Rumen Radev presented the badge of honour to the president of the Bulgarian contingent in KFOR. During his meeting with the contingent in Kosovo, Radev also spoke with the commander of the international mission, Gen. Özkan Ulutas.

Bulgaria has been participating in the NATO peacekeeping mission in Kosovo since 2000. During that time, the Bulgarian military have performed various tasks. Over 1,700 Bulgarians participated in the KFOR operation.

The President stated to the present military officers that they represent Bulgaria in a dignified manner: "Let me thank you for the professional and responsible way in which you are carrying out this important mission. It has a huge effect on the security and stability of the entire region, including Bulgaria. You know well what happened in September in Banska, which showed how fragile the security environment is here," explained the president.
