“If anyone wants to they can do whatever checks they want, but to question the entire process once again is absolutely inappropriate and there is no room for that now,” said Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov in a comment on President Rumen Radev’s intention to refer the changes to the Constitution to the Constitutional Court.

PM Denkov said further that the changes to the Constitution had been expected for years, and that they were drafted in consultation with international institutions.

In a comment on the president’s criticism that the country had entered a “half-Schengen”, Nikolai Denkov said: “We have become a full member of the Schengen area. If anyone has any doubts, they can take a look at the announcement by the European Commission President. The only thing left is to make sure the land borders will be opened,” the Bulgarian prime minister added.

Answering a reporter’s question whether there are any additional conditions for taking in refugees from Austria, Nikolai Denkov said that everything agreed was public knowledge and was posted on the website of the European Commission. “There is no hush-hush, there are no numbers,” he said.
