I am assuming the commitment to have a comprehensive investigation conducted of the sources of air pollution in Ruse that will not be a one-time check but will be a standing investigation, Minister of Environment and Water Julian Popov said at a meeting with the public in Ruse. The aim of his visit to the city is, together with the local authorities, to seek a solution to the problem of the chronic air pollution.

At the meeting, Architect Dragomir Stoyanov presented facts showing that the treatment plant of an aluminum company is not functioning properly and is polluting the air.

The chairman of the association Breathe, Ruse Rostislav Kandilarov demanded a mechanism for closing down polluting industries, instead of their being sanctioned or fined, which they have budgeted for in advance.
