Bulgaria has not received any commentary yet by the European Commission regarding the investigation into the agreement the Bulgarian caretaker government concluded with the Turkish gas company Botas, said Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov, and added that Bulgaria has been asked to provide documents in the course of the probe into whether there is any breach of European rules.

Negotiations are underway between Bulgaria’s Bulgargaz and Turkey’s Botas for renegotiating the clauses of the agreement, PM Denkov said further. “For Bulgaria this contract is not advantageous because it is very asymmetrical, with very serious financial commitments for the country. We are trying to find ways to do away with this asymmetry, or at least to minimize it,” the Bulgarian prime minister said.
