At the moment, Bulgaria is facing the peak of an influenza epidemic, as the data for different regions are different. The situation is most serious in Plovdiv, Gabrovo and Smolyan, where an influenza epidemic has already been declared.

This year, for the first time in the country since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the balance between respiratory viruses, which had significantly decreased, is being restored. This is what virologist Prof. Radka Argirova told BNT. Currently, influenza type A dominates in the country, and type B is detected in just 7% of cases. The expert advises people to wear masks and not to use antibiotics without a doctor's prescription.
