Finland will send up to eight fighter jets and a mine-hunting naval vessel to take part in joint NATO operations in 2024, the country's defence ministry announced. The Finnish Air Force will participate in NATO air defence operations over Bulgaria, Romania and the Black Sea, Finnish Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen said in a press release quoted by BGNES.

Next year, Finland will participate in NATO's peacetime collective defence missions with one of its Katanpaa-class ships and a maximum of eight F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets. "The active participation of Allies in NATO's peacetime collective defence missions sends a message of unity and strengthens deterrence," Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen said in a statement. We have a responsibility to contribute to common defence and deterrence throughout the Alliance area," Häkkanen told Finnish media.

According to the Finnish defence ministry, the tasks include air surveillance and armed patrols under the command of NATO's integrated air and missile defence.
