The exhibition "Argonauts of Freedom - Garibaldi and the Bulgarians", dedicated to the 146th anniversary of the Liberation from Ottoman rule of Burgas, will be opened today in the Historical Museum in the city. The name of the exhibition is the definition that Giuseppe Garibaldi gave to his fighters during the "Expedition of the Thousand".
On eight panels, visitors will find information about Bulgarians, followers of Garibaldi, as well as about Italian followers who later connected their lives to Bulgaria.
Among the exhibits one can find photographs of the unifier of Italy and the Bulgarian participants in the Garibaldi movement, Georgi Rakovski, Dimitar Obshti, Hadzhi Dimitar and Captain Petko Voivoda. Here is also the portrait of Giuseppe Garibaldi, painted by Alessandro Chiarapa, which remained in Bulgaria as a sign of mutual respect between the two peoples.
