Declarations in which the Sofia party organizations are withdrawing their trust in the municipal councilors of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), who voted in support of Tsvetomir Petrov from We Continue the Change/Democratic Bulgaria (PP/DB) for chair of the Sofia city council, have been submitted to the BSP National Council, the party press centre has announced.

On Thursday, the socialists ignored the decisions of the party’s bodies and supported the nomination of the coalition which won the election.

“You supported the disgraceful collusion with the urban right which has been robbing the people of Sofia for 30 years, cutting up monuments and cynically decorating a cake with a semblance of the pieces to celebrate their victory over our memory. Shame on you,” reads the BSP-Krasno Selo declaration.

The socialists are proposing that the BSP National Council impose party penalties on the councilors in question, and express support for the decision of the BSP Executive Bureau to withdraw confidence from the councilors who voted in support of the chairman of the Sofia city council.
