Bulgarian president says the EU should build competitive green economy

EU diplomacy should be much more actively present in the hot spots near us and should contribute to the resolution of these conflicts, President Rumen Radev said during a meeting with ambassadors of the EU member states in Sofia. In the conversation, the diplomats raised questions related to Bulgaria's agenda, as well as the consequences of Russia's war against Ukraine and Israel's fight against Hamas.

The development of stable EU against the backdrop of wars in the immediate vicinity is a very difficult task, Radev pointed out. Farmers' protests across Europe are a signal for a real problem that requires concrete actions from the European institutions. The development of a green economy must take into account the social and economic aspects, and must not lead to a loss of competitiveness, Radev pointed out.
