"The danger is real and we need to raise the awareness of every citizen in Europe. The life we cherish, the life we strive to protect, could disappear - a scenario that has happened many times in history," said Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov during the panel discussion on the future of Ukraine and transatlantic security at the Munich Security Conference.

According to the Prime Minister, the sense of urgency to support Ukraine remains as strong as in the early days of the war. "We were one of the first countries to send aid and now we are discussing what more we can do with the support of other countries," the Prime Minister said.

The forum was attended by the prime ministers of Estonia, Belgium and Denmark, Czech President Petr Pavel and former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Earlier, in a meeting with Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna, Nikolai Denkov assured her of Sofia's determination to support Ukraine and recognise its legitimate right to defend its territorial interests. "The most important principle that Bulgaria upholds is the sovereign right of the country to determine the terms and timing of negotiations with Russia," the prime minister stressed.
