To mark two years of Russia’s war against Ukraine, a premiere of the documentary “Letters from the war. Letter 1 – the Pulse of Ukraine” by screenwriter and director Tetiana Staneva and the photo exhibition “War vs. Life” by photographer Oleksandr Baron took place at the Central Military Club in Sofia last night.

The event was attended by Defence Minister Todor Tagarev, Ukrainian ambassador to Bulgaria Olesya Ilashchuk, representatives of the diplomatic corps, high-ranking officers from the Bulgarian army.

“Together with our allies we remain determined to help Uktraine for as long as it will take for it to win,” Minister Tagarev said, and added that Bulgaria will to its best to thwart all those who are helping Russia and spreading disinformation. The aggressor – Russia bears full responsibility for what is happening in Ukraine, Todor Tagarev said. “If Russia stops fighting, there will be no war, if Ukraine stops fighting, there will be no Ukraine.”

“A strong and independent Ukraine is vital to the stability of the Euro-Atlantic community and to the national security of Bulgaria, as well as to the security of the entire region. We see Ukraine’s heart is beating faster, and no one is succumbing to defeatism,” Todor Tagarev said further.

Minister Tagarev welcomed the idea of creating a film series about the war. Bulgarians have proved to be fertile soil for fake news and disinformation, and it would be a good thing if they see the truth, first hand, said Minister Tagarev.
