Sixth Bulgarian national arrested in UK over spying for Russia

A sixth Bulgarian national has been arrested in the United Kingdom on charges of espionage for Russia, BNR correspondent in London, Veselin Paunov reports. 38-year-old Tihomir Ivanov Ivanchev was arrested on February 7. He is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court on February 28. The resident of Acton district of the British capital is accused of "conspiring to collect information intended to be directly or indirectly useful to an enemy".

A year ago, Orlin Rusev, Biser Dzambazov, Katrin Ivanova, Ivan Stoyanov and Vanya Gaberova were arrested in London and Norfolk and will face trial. They are accused of conducting surveillance on people and places targeted by Russia between August 2020 and February 2023.
