120,000 people employed in coal-fired power plants are at risk of losing their jobs and are facing emigration, warn experts from the Podkrepa Confederation of Labour. According to Veselin Mitov, International Secretary of the Podkrepa Confederation of Labor, Romanian miners from Baia Mare are facing the same problem. Mitov pointed out that during the cold days of January, up to 40% of the electricity consumed in Bulgaria was imported, mainly from non-EU countries, because the electricity there is cheaper, and no charges for so-called harmful emissions are applied.
