33 schools and kindergartens will be built by 2027

The construction of 33 new schools and kindergartens has begun, and another 57 buildings will be reconstructed and renovated, announced outgoing Minister of Education and Science Galin Tsokov.

The projects will be implemented under the programme for construction, extension and renovation of nurseries, kindergartens and schools 2024-2027, for which the government has allocated EUR 122.6 million. 

The aim of the projects is to reduce the shortage of places in nurseries, to secure healthy environment for children from three months to three years of age, and to ensure that all children over 4 years of age have access to pre-school education in municipal and state institutions near their homes. Additionally, 24,000 students will be able to switch to a single-shift education.
