The first evening of negotiations between GERB-SDS and We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB) for joint governance ended without statements. According to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariya Gabriel, who is expected to head the government for the next nine months, the key talks taking place this weekend will answer the question whether the joint government will continue and in what form.

''We will reach an agreement, rest assured’’, Democratic Bulgaria Co-chairman Atanas Atanasov said before the beginning of the talks between the female team of GERB-SDS and the male team of "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria". After the rotation, GERB-SDS proposes a coalition agreement and an equal number of ministers. On the other hand, PP-DB stands behind its memorandum with key priorities, including mechanisms to fill the regulators, reforms in the services and the judiciary, an uncompromising fight against corruption, etc. Yesterday, the coalition set 12 new conditions. Among them are filling the Anti-corruption Commission with publicly convincing figures, expanding the powers of Parliamentary ad-hoc committees, a new Judiciary Act, stepping up efforts to join the Eurozone, etc.

Negotiations continue on Sunday.
