The musical preferences of Bulgarians are varied, survey shows

Musical preferences differ according to the place of residence, age and education, according to Bulgaria's first survey of musical attitudes, carried out by Trend agency at the end of 2023. 

75% of Bulgarians listen to music weekly, 43% every day and they are mostly young people. 

Pop folk is preferred by younger people under 50 and with lower level of education, especially in small towns.  Authentic folk music is mostly listened to by the over 50 generation. 

By genre, pop folk is the leader - 17%, followed by pop music - 15%, rock music - 14%, folk music - 6% and classical music - 5%. 

Radio is the leading source for listening to music for 39% of respondents. Next come television and internet platforms. 

56% listen to music at home, 21% in the car. 

71% said they don't go to concerts.
