The decision to release the cargo ship Galaxy Leader and its crew, which includes two Bulgarians, will be taken by Hamas. This was announced by a spokesman for the Yemeni Houthis, quoted by CNN.

The ship was hijacked in November 2023 by the Houthis, who took hostage the crew members, including 17 Filipinos, two Bulgarians, three Ukrainians, two Mexicans and a Romanian.
"The ship and its crew are in the hands of the brothers of the Hamas resistance movement and the Al-Qassam Brigades," the Houthi spokesman reported. He adds that there are direct talks with Hamas about whether to release them.

According to CNN, after the announcement by the Houthi spokesman, hope for an imminent return of the crew is diminishing.
