Public expectations are not in the direction of early elections, Alpha Research sociologist Boriana Dimitrova told Bulgarian National Radio. The idea is supported by only about 20 per cent of the population, Dimitrova added, saying that shap elections would put GERB-SDS in a stronger winning position, giving them the confidence to set a sharper tone and conditions in the negotiations.

"In national elections, even when held concurrently with European voting, the chances of GERB-SDS are about 5 to 5.5 per cent better than those of We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB), according to the Alpha Research poll. The lack of natural allies in Parliament is the biggest problem for PP-DB, Dimitrova said.
