On entering the European Council, where a meeting of EU leaders is taking place, the outgoing Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov indicated that the trust between him and Mariya Gabriel was "broken". However, he stressed that a way must be found for the dialogue between them to continue and to rebuild "that fragile trust" in  order to be able to build on it and move on.

Denkov was adamant that there was no change regarding Assen Vassilev and that this is the best finance minister he knows and wants to work with. "But we have to find a way to get out of the "one said something to the other" regime, and see how we will form a cabinet that will solve the problems," Denkov also pointed out.
