The Romanian company OMV Petrom, which is part of the Austrian OMV, has taken over as operator of the Han Asparuh perimeter in Bulgaria. OMV Petrom replaced Total Energies as the operator of the Han Asparuh deep water perimeter in Bulgaria, according to Economica.net, quoting a note in the company’s yearly report, BTA informed. OMV holds 51% of the shares in the Romanian subsidiary, while the Romanian government holds 20%. "We continue to strengthen our position in the Black Sea. We have taken on the role of operator and will continue exploration activities in the Han Asparuh perimeter in Bulgaria," said OMV Petrom in its annual report.
OMV Petrom and Total Energies were partners in the Bulgarian perimeter of the Black Sea. The Han Asparuh block covers an area of 14,220 square kilometers, with water depths of up to 2,200 meters. Han Asparuh is adjacent to the Neptun Deep perimeter in Romania.
