Toyota is funding research at the Bulgarian Institute of Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology - INSAIT, part of Sofia University, the press office of the Ministry of Education and Science said.

The research aims to create a new type of artificial intelligence embedded in a robot, using naturally spoken audio commands and computer vision for object recognition. The artificial intelligence would make the robot functional for various everyday tasks. The product will have an important social role in helping elderly or disabled people who find it difficult to carry out routine domestic activities on their own. In the long term, such a robot could also become part of the household.
