Three falcon chicks hatched at the Green Balkans Rescue Centre

Three saker falcons have hatched at the Green Balkans Rescue Centre. They are in the nursery and will be raised for seven days before being returned to their parents.

"The saker was an extinct species for decades, but it is recovering successfully. We already have four pairs in the wild that were hatched here, in the Green Balkans," an official at the centre told BGNES. He said that the number of pairs could be higher as the birds do not have transmitters.


The rescue centre currently has 33 falcon eggs. The Green Balkans team has been working for 15 years to restore the population of this recently extinct species.
