President Rumen Radev is following with concern the development of the conflict in the Middle East and condemns the escalation of tension, the head state’s press secretariat said. According to President Radev, "all countries in the region should abstain from further use of force", President Radev said.

The Head of State is in constant contact with the Bulgarian government and security services to guarantee the lives and safety of Bulgarian citizens in the Middle East and, if necessary, their evacuation from the region, the statement further reads.

Meanwhile, high-ranking politicians in Bulgaria expressed their position on the Iranian attack against Israel.

"I strongly condemn Iran's unacceptable missile and drone attack on Israel. Immediate de-escalation in the Middle East and the establishment of a lasting peace is necessary", caretaker Minister of Interior Kalin Stoyanov wrote on Facebook.

"I strongly condemn Iran’s reckless missile and drone attack against Israel on Saturday night", GERB leader Boyko Borisov wrote on Facebook.

''We consider the attack irresponsible and unjustified, dangerous for peace and security in the entire region", We Continue the Change said a statement.

"Once again we have witnessed double standards applied in Bulgaria's foreign policy", Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov said on Facebook. "Israel's terrorist attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus was passed over in silence, while Iran's legitimate and expected response to Israel was condemned immediately by the Foreign Ministry’’, Kostadin Kostadinov wrote further.

The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) called for restraint and prevention of further escalation of conflicts in the Middle East, as well as for a sustainable peace.
