Bulgaria supports an increase in de minimis aid in the agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture sector, caretaker Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Georgi Tahov said at the Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting in Luxembourg. Speaking on behalf of Bulgaria and 13 more EU Member States, the Germany called on the European Commission to raise the de minimis aid ceiling o EUR 50,000 in the course of three years.

The European Union's Common Agricultural Policy needs an adequate budget to provide fair support for farmers so that there is no inequality of farmers in the EU, Minister Tahov said. In his words, it is essential to work towards equalizing the levels of direct payments so that farmers from countries with lower payments could feel on an equal footing with other farmers from the EU.
