Interdepartmental working groups will work towards the speedier implementation of the projects for the construction of new nuclear capacities at Kozloduy NPP and the Vertical Gas Corridor, the Council of Ministers press service has announced. The groups were set up by order of caretaker PM Dimitar Glavchev.
The projects, part of the Vertical Gas Corridor initiative between Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine and Moldova, will provide for the transit of additional quantities of natural gas from diverse and reliable sources in a South-North direction.
The construction of new nuclear capacities at Kozloduy NPP is a strategic project for the country. In the autumn of last year, the Nikolai Denkov government announced a procedure for the construction of a 7th and 8th reactor at Kozloduy nuclear power plant. Their construction is scheduled to be completed in 2033 and 2036 respectively.
